Organized by Minnesota Rural Partners, the U of MN Center for Rural Design and the Minnesota Design Team, in partnership with the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission.
The Thriving by Design competition seeks answers to this question:
After 150 years of statehood, knowing what we know now and the tools we have, combined with the ingenuity of our people, and facing the global pressures around us, how would you "design" Minnesota today to be economically, socially and environmentally sustainable, to carry on with our high quality of life well in the 21st century?
Teams of people –professionals and non-professionals -- working across disciplines (such as landscape architecture, architecture, planning, economic development, health care) will submit their conceptual design ideas, addressing Minnesota comprehensively, at a community, region or statewide scale, and/or looking at specific systems, such as telecommunications, transportation, land use, health care, education, business, government, etc. There will also be a youth track for students (K-12). Registration DEADLINE is February 15th.
