ANOKA COUNTY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT INTERNTEMPORARY FULL-TIME 

The Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department has an immediate opening for a Temporary Full-Time Landscape Architect Intern.  This position is available from June 2009 to June 2010 with possibility of an extension if projects and funding available.  This position will assist the Park Planner and Landscape Architect to develop, coordinate and oversee the design and preparation of plans for regional and county park development and other duties as required.

  

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):

Assists in the designs, plans and preparation of details and construction documents for park development; Assists in securing permits from federal, state and local agencies in conjunction with park development; Assists in the capital improvements program for future development of park facilities; Assists in the preparation of local, state and federal grant applications and provides reports and forms for such grants; Prepares reports, maps, and various forms within scheduled time frames; Assists in the supervision and monitoring of the construction of buildings, trails, roads, landscaping and other related park features; Assists in the preparation of detailed plans of park proposals relative to acquisition, development and natural resources management.

 

REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture; one to three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of: architecture design principles, construction principles, landscape architecture techniques, plant materials, topographic surveys and legal descriptions.
Ability to:  read and prepare plans and specifications for park related projects; deal effectively with the public and contractors; prepare grant applications and reports; prepare and monitor budget resources; work with various agencies and governmental units.
Skill in:  Auto CAD, Photoshop, In-Design, Arc View and other computer programs.

 

Hiring Salary Range: $12.00-$15.00/hour.
