Basic Supervisor Training 2010

Saturday, April 10, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm in Saint Paul

Great River Greening is an environmental nonprofit that restores valuable and endangered natural areas by mobilizing volunteers in their communities. We are seeking people who are passionate about environmental restoration to become trained as volunteer supervisors. Supervisors lead work units of 10-20 volunteers at Saturday morning restoration events around the Twin Cities. To help our new supervisors become comfortable with their role, they are paired with an experienced supervisor for their first event. Becoming a supervisor is a great opportunity for: 

• Individuals who enjoy leading, teaching, and motivating diverse groups of children and adults

• Past Greening volunteers who want a leadership role

• Master Gardeners, Tree Care Advisors, Master Naturalists, or other trained specialists who need to fulfill service hour requirements

• Anyone who cares about the environment and wants to make a lasting impact

Previous experience or knowledge is helpful but not required. Experienced supervisors can volunteered between 2007 and 2010 can attend as a refresher at no cost. The training will focus on species identification, restoration techniques, and volunteer management.

What:          Great River Greening Basic Supervisor Training

Location:     American Engineering Testing, Inc., 550 Cleveland Ave North, Saint Paul, MN
Cost:           $20 one-time fee that covers the Basic Training, which includes three hours of classroom instruction, a training manual and an outdoor planting demonstration
